Being a student in today's world - or a parent of a student in today's world - is challenging!
We are encouraging our children to break through the molds of decades past and express their thoughts and emotions in real time, while simultaneously experiencing life up close and personal through hands-on, in-person group learning.
For so many students and parents, the traditional educational patterns, curricula, and pedagogy in public and private school systems no longer addresses the needs and wants of our children.
Either our children need different approaches, demand different approaches, or have outgrown those approaches.
Harmony Homeschool Academy was established to address the changing educational experiences families are seeking.

At Harmony Homeschool Academy, we strive to cultivate a secular, inclusive, empathic, and academically challenging environment where every learner and educator can thrive. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse community of students, empowering them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become independent, thoughtful, engaged, and compassionate global citizens. By providing core academic subjects, multi-sensory, innovative teaching practices and a commitment to individual growth, we strive to provide a safe learning space where every learner can succeed.
What Makes Us Different
Personalized Learning Paths
Every student is unique, and so is their education! Your child’s journey at Harmony begins with a personalized meeting with Harmony’s co-founders and directors to discuss your child’s individual needs, strengths, desires, and struggles.
This meeting is designed to give you the opportunity to provide an overview of your child’s social, emotional and educational path to date and communicate your desires moving forward.
During this meeting, you and the directors will discuss recommended classes and instructors that might best address your child’s and your needs.
Follow-up sessions can occur at any point throughout the year or along your child’s educational journey at Harmony Homeschool Academy.
Strong Academics and Unique Electives
Parents are given the option to enroll their students in strong academic core courses that they are not or do not want to teach at home.
They can also enroll their children in unique, fun elective courses, to diversify interests and enhance the love of learning.
All classes are taught by highly qualified instructors with the academic certifications or extensive professional experience qualifying them to teach the subject matter.
All curriculum is approved by the directors at the onset of each semester and every child receives a transcript grade and summary feedback for all academic courses, for use by the parents at the parents’ discretion (according to North Carolina state homeschool laws).
Flexibility
Harmony Homeschool Academy is unique beyond its class offerings; it also gives you the option of enrolling your child as a full-time or part-time student depending on your family’s needs.
Harmony provides solid academic courses that fulfill North Carolina state requirements for most grade levels, in addition to numerous electives.
Each teacher provides a transcript grade and assessment for every course.
Small Classes,
Big Impact
With approximately 8 to 12 students per class, every child gets the attention they deserve. The primary objective for each class is to learn and build confidence!
At Harmony Homeschool Academy, teachers create emotional safety so that students are able to really learn.
All teachers are provided with classroom-based social-emotional training prior to teaching in the classroom and must follow mandatory school-wide guidelines related to safety, health, and discipline.
At Harmony, we believe that each class is adaptable to the students’ needs and welcome the opportunity to grow with our students.
Our multi-sensory learning classroom environments aim to be all inclusive and will continue to develop with the changing needs of our students.
Harmony also provides smaller tutoring sessions for those students with diagnosed or suspected learning disabilities, who need additional support with reading comprehension and writing fundamentals (sessions range between one to five students).
Those tutoring sessions support students participating in age-appropriate English language arts classes to ensure continued growth throughout the academic year.
At Harmony, we believe students should be assessed on their own academic growth and commitment to continued achievement, rather than compared to other students, whose learning styles may be different.
Through our tutoring sessions, teachers and students build collaborative, trusting relationships that further enhance our students’ academic growth.
It Takes a Community
Harmony Homeschool Academy believes—wholeheartedly—that it is best run by a team, which is why Harmony supports a parent advisory council, a student advisory council, and conducts regular teacher/staff meetings to ensure healthy communications and operations.
Harmony directors believe Harmony should evolve and adapt to student, parent, and teacher needs, particularly in the face of a changing educational landscape.
Harmony believes in self-growth and will turn to its community to ensure that it is providing the best academic and social resources for its students and families.
